Computer Hardware Wikipedia Entry:
Overall this was a pretty concise overview of computer hardware basics. While I was familiar with a majority of the terms, I did have a couple of "so that's what that means" moments. I thought the section that offered simple explanations for "Removable Media Devices" was particularly effective.
Moore's Law Wikipedia Entry:
The authors of this entry could take a few lessons in streamlining from the authors of the Computer Hardware Entry. It was SO, so dense. I found the basic premise of Moore's Law to be fairly straightforward. However, you would never know it from the glut of information that was included. It is an entry in dire need of a few pared-down paragraphs and a "for a more in-depth explanation" link. Thank goodness for the Scientific American video! Ms. Nicholson's little paper-folding exercise was ten (or more) times more effective than the Wikipedia offering.
Computer History Museum
Sadly, this was the first I had heard of the Computer History Museum. Their website with its wealth of online content was quite engaging. I really appreciate those museums websites that give you more than just the barest taste of their in-house exhibits. The collection of oral histories was something that really piqued my interest. Do you think they would be interested in my wistful remembrances of afternoons spent in the 5th grade playing Oregon Trail on a ginormous Macintosh?
Muddiest Point
I had no problem understanding the points and topics covered in the lecture video. It is a simple due date that gives me pause. I am still not completely sure that the above postings are correct for the Friday deadline. But, based on other blog entries I have read, I think this is the muddiest Muddiest point for several of us.

From what I understand, week two's readings were due on this past friday, the 29th. All of our posts for the readings, except for week one, will be due the the Friday before the class for which they were assigned. This is to allow adequate time for everyone to review the entries. The blog exercise and week one readings were both part of assignment one, which is due September 2. This is a bit confusing because week two cannot be completed without completing the first part of week 1's assignment. I think Dr. He was just trying to give us more time to complete both sets of readings. Let me know if someone had a different understanding.
Cari- Like I mentioned in my blog, I did a mental eyeroll at the beginning of the Moore's law article. As I read along though, just as I was about to be "lost", I was "found" by some clear, easy to undertand-not filled with technical terms statement that "saved" me! Not my first choice reading, but informative.
As far as the muddiest point (great idea!) my mass confusion on the due dates was/is enough to make me rethink trying to do this! Not really, but not exactly a confindence booster. As Lindsay commented, if assignment #1is not due until Tuesday, (creating a blog) how are we supposed to post to the readings (on our blog) the previous Friday??
cari, had a pretty large apple myself and am a former ILLer - is that a word? i don't remember oregon trail, though?? i really enjoyed browsing the computer museum's virtual exhibits too. i guess that since it is a museum devoted to the history of the computer, that its virtual tours should demonstrate the power and efficiency of that medium. i enjoyed reading all of your comments...very thorough.
